The Marshall County Council meets Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building.  This is a public meeting, and the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments.

The agenda is short for the May meeting with Bethany Hartley from the Northern Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA).  The RDA contract is up between Marshall, Saint Joseph, and Elkhart Counties so the County Council will need to consider approving an ordinance to continue participating.  There is no cost to the county to participate in the RDA.

The County Council will consider two ordinances amending the 2023 Salary Ordinance and an amendment to the Job Descriptions.

Under the Consent Agenda are the additional and transfer appropriations.  Additional requests include $29,932.75 for the Courthouse Project and Urinalysis supplies for Probation.  The Health Department is requesting $500 for Office Supplies and $500 for Printing and Advertising.  The County Highway Department is seeking an additional in the Local Road and Street (LR&S) fund in the amount of $30,000 for Equipment Rental and in the Motor Vehicle Highway fund (MVH) totaling $313,000 for Overtime, a Heavy Equipment Operator and Vehicle Maintenance.  The Commissioners are again seeking $200,000 from the Rainy-Day fund for the Disaster Recovery for the Small Structure Inventory and the Clerk is asking for $3,000 in the IV-D fund for professional services.  Marshall County’s Problem-Solving Court is seeking a $3,380 additional for Program Supplies and Drug Testing while Solid Waste has requested a total of $50,000 for a Feasibility Study, Accounting and Legal, Education, Commodity Recycling, Site and Facility Improvements, and Miscellaneous Equipment.

There is only one transfer up for consideration.  The Highway Department needs to transfer $50,000 from the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund for Stone, Gravel, and Aggregates to the Restricted MVH Fund.

The County Council will also consider the Compliance Forms for Tax Abatement from Faulkner Fabricating and Homestead Dairy.

The County Council meeting is live-streamed off the county’s website at www.co.marshall.in.us.
