Monday evening, Plymouth Police Chief Dave Bacon told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety a new officer was sworn into duty that morning.  He said that brings the department up to 22.  The chief said they still have 3 openings.  He also said during the application process in late April, 10 applications were received, and 6 candidates showed up for the initial process.  Bacon said they have 5 who are currently going through the background investigation portion of the process.

The Police Chief said they are still working with lateral transfers and that he may have something for them to consider in the next meeting.

The new Police Officer sworn into office on Monday was Jakub Mark.  Jakub resides in Marshall County, is a graduate of LaVille High School, and was employed as a court security officer for Elkhart County prior to being hired by the Plymouth Police Department.  He does not have any experience and will have to attend the Police Academy in Indianapolis soon.
