State Senator Mike Bohacek (R-Michiana Shores) made the following statement Tuesday in response to Governor Eric Holcomb’s 2023 State of the State address:
“I am pleased to hear Gov. Holcomb is seeking to invest in Hoosiers by improving K-12 funding, school safety, and mental health care.
“Ensuring Indiana schools have the proper funding to support our educators is crucial to providing our children with a well-rounded education. Our student’s education goes hand-in-hand with properly protecting them, which is demonstrated through the governor’s initiative to increase school safety grants by 30%.
“It is also important to increase access to mental health care throughout the state, providing those who need assistance with the necessary resources to find and receive help. We must grasp the opportunity to expand the 9-8-8 Crisis and Suicide Lifeline service and help vulnerable Hoosiers.
“I look forward to meeting with fellow legislators to discuss ways to implement these ideas and more this session.”
