Earlier this month the Plymouth Community School Board heard the request of Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter to approve the 2023-2024 school calendar.

The Superintendent explained that Principal Ryan Welch and a committee of administrators and teachers have worked on the corporation calendar for the last two years and Welch continues to serve as the committee chairman.

The committee has presented the 2023-24 calendar for consideration by the school board.  The calendar has school beginning on August 7th and 8th as teacher workdays and August 9th as the first day for students.  There will be no school on September 1 and 4 due to the Labor Day/Blueberry Festival weekend.

Fall break will be one week, October 16 through the 20th and the Thanksgiving break will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 22nd through the 24th.   Winter break will begin on Friday, December 22, 2023, and last until January 9, 2024, for students.  Teachers will have a workday on January 8th.

Students will be off of school on January 15th for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  February 12th is an E-learning day and February 19th will be no school for Presidents Day.  Spring Break for 2024 will be March 18th through the 22nd and there will no school on Good Friday, March 29th, or April 1st for the Easter holiday. Students will be out of the classroom on Monday, May 27th and the last day for students will be May 30th, 2024.  Teacher last day will be May 31st.

Superintendent Mawhorter said the Plymouth Educational Association has vetted the 2023-24 school calendar and it was unanimously adopted by the Plymouth School Board.
