Last week members of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission received an update on the improvement project for Hoham Drive in TIF District #1 from the city Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson.
Progress continues toward the construction phase for the widening project that is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023. A pre-construction meeting was held on December 20th and received a status update from NIPSCO. They have four electric poles which should be relocated by the end of the year although it is weather dependent. NIPSCO will also be relocating a gas line in March after the extreme winter weather is over.
Davidson said there are a few minor utilities, BrightSpeed has some phone cables to relocate, Comcast will follow after NIPSCO to move their lines on the electric poles and ChoiceLite has a handhold to relocate.
Davidson said the contractor for the project, Milestone Contractors plans to begin the installation of a detention pond for the stormwater in March and in May the underground piping of water mains and storm sewers in.
This project has a $2.5 million price tag and will widen Hoham Drive from Michigan Street to just west of Western Avenue with two travel lanes and a turn lane. Also included are new curbs and gutters as well as a sidewalk.
