The Culver Street Department is asking for citizens’ assistance with leaf collection.

Culver’s Town Clerk Karen Heim said in a release, “Please rake leaves to the edge of the street or curb to be collected. DO NOT place them in the street.”

She also said, “Keep sticks and limbs separate from leaf piles. They will be picked up separately.”

Doing these two things will help Culver’s slim utilities crew collect leaves efficiently. When leaves are in the street, they are compacted by cars and moisture and the leaf vac won’t pick them up. They also gather around the storm sewers and can make their way to the lake which compromises the delicate ecological balance – they want to keep the lake healthy. Sticks will clog the leaf vac arm and potentially cause damage which will delay leaf pickup.
