On Friday October 14th, 2022 at approximately 7:43 pm, the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a call from the 19,000 block of 4B Road in reference to a residence being struck multiple times by bullets that were being fired from nearby.

The caller advised that one of the bullets has struck the bedroom window where his children were sleeping and further that the broken glass has injured one of his children.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Department patrol units arrived in the area and located the suspects shooting in the 4,000 block of Thorn Road. Through an investigation it was determined that the three suspects did not have a sufficient backstop to be shooting the semi-automatic rifles toward the victim’s residence.

Donovyn Carmack 22-years-of-age and, Dalton Carmack 25-year-of-age from Mishawaka, along with32-year-old Kendric Emerson of Plymouth were all arrested for the offense of Criminal Recklessness Shooting a Firearm into an Inhabited Structure as a Level 5 Felony.

All three suspects are being held at that Marshall County Jail on $1,500 cash bonds.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
