The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ announced on October 13th that Catherine Kasper Life Center will close effective March 31, 2023.  Catherine Kasper Home (CKH) will cease to intake long-term healthcare patients, while short-term rehab will continue until closure.

Over the past several years, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and the Catherine Kasper Life Center Board of Directors have been searching for a partner to assume the sponsorship, governance, and management of Catherine Kasper Life Center.  Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful in this endeavor.

They are planning to close the corporation of CKLC and form a new corporation to provide aging-in-place non-licensed personal care services for Maria Center residents and, if possible, appropriately placed CKH residents.  They are exploring further options in this regard and will provide more information in the weeks ahead.

From their website, it states, “While it was a difficult decision to close the Catherine Kasper Life Center, our priority right now is making sure that our residents and co-workers are receiving the support they need to have a smooth transition,” said Sister Shirley Bell, PHJC.  “We are taking a person-centered approach through this transition and are committed to keeping our residents, family, coworkers, and community updated.”
