A minor derailment along the Elkhart & Western Railroad just north of Plymouth has damaged the road crossing at Pine Road. Pine Road between 7th Road and 7B Road is currently closed until the damaged crossing can be repaired. Barricades and signs mark the road closure. Motorists can use Oak Road or Queen Road as alternative routes.
It appears that the trailing locomotive of a southbound train left the tracks west of the crossing and caused significant damage to the grade crossing. As of Friday afternoon, the locomotive is still sitting east of the crossing until crews can re-rail it. No further information on the incident is available at this time.
