The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request of Mayor Mark Senter to restrict the parking on both sides of LaPorte Street between Michigan Street and the alley behind the REES this Saturday.  The request is to assist in the grand reopening celebration of the REES.  The restriction is from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.  Mayor Mark said parking will be restricted for entertainment parking.

The Board of Public Works and Safety informed that NIPSCO is planning to relocate the gas service from three buildings on the northwest corner of Michigan and Garro Streets beginning Monday, October 4th.  The project will require NIPSCO to cut the street surface and sidewalks. The project is expected to take one to two days and will require the closure of Garro Street from Michigan Street to the alley at the Post Office.

Marquardt also told the Board of Public Works and Safety that the Tactical Urbanism project scheduled for the intersection of Michigan and Garro Streets will begin to take shape on Monday, October 4th as the Complete Streets Committee and Plymouth Street Department paint out the temporary curb extensions making the pedestrian crossings closer together which will allow walkers to get across the street faster.  The temporary project will also slow traffic down as it restricts the width of the intersection.
