Deputy Blake Bennet with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 31 and 14th Road Wednesday, September 14th at about 1 o’clock in the afternoon.   

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 39-year-old Joshua Campbell of South Bend. Campbell was found to be operating the vehicle without ever obtaining a license with a prior conviction. During the traffic stop, a firearm was located in the vehicle, and Joshua was found to be a serious violent felon.

Joshua Campbell was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon and Operating a vehicle Without ever obtaining a License with a prior conviction.  He was held on a $3,000 cash bond. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
