The driver, Lori A. Hafer of South Bend was found to be intoxicated after failing the sobriety testing. 

The passenger in the vehicle, Kevin Cherrone, also of South Bend was arrested for violation of a protective order between the two parties. 

Hafter was taken to St. Joe Hospital in Plymouth and tested at a .282 for blood alcohol content.  She was charged with OWI Greater than .15 and held on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Cherrone was also arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a $1,500 cash bond.   

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
