Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO) broke ground Thursday on a new manufacturing facility. This facility when completed will be the new home for Plymouth Molding Group (PMG).

This new industrial facility is located at 2925 Commerce Street in the industrial park north of US 30 in Plymouth. The building will initially be over 40,000 sq. ft. built with the ability to be doubled in size when needed. Currently, PMG employs 18 full-time employees that will be retained in Plymouth and are expected to hire an additional 8 immediately upon the relocation.

PMG approached the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) in 2021 looking for additional room to grow. PMG is an injection molding plastic manufacturer that produces items for several industries including RV, construction, and agriculture. PMG is making a $600,000 capital investment in additional equipment to increase their production to meet demand.

PIDCO is partnering with MCEDC, the City of Plymouth, and Marshall County in the construction of this $2.5 million facility. “PIDCO feels strongly about not only attracting new businesses to the area but also in helping our existing manufacturers expand,” said Doug Gehrke, PIDCO Board President. “PMG was looking to expand and was being courted by several locations in Indiana and Michigan. By entering this build to lease agreement we are able to keep Plymouth Molding Group here and provide for their future expansion.”

“This is the second facility here in the City of Plymouth that PIDCO will own and lease to a manufacturer,” added Laura Walls, President/CEO of MCEDC. “These types of projects provide a long-term source of capital for PIDCO, which in turn they can use to develop additional areas for industrial use. MCEDC looks forward to working with PIDCO on future projects.”
