On Tuesday, April 12, prior to the start of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Merit Board meeting Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel presented Life Saving Awards to four officers.

The details of the incident are on January 10, of this year, at about 8:30 at night Marshall County 911/Central Dispatch received a call of a 65-year-old male that was found unconscious and not breathing. Marshall County Sheriff Patrol units, Plymouth Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 17,000 block of Mill Pond Trail.

Marshall County Officers Sergeant Jordan Rans, Officers Blake Bennett, Zach McGuigan, and Curtis Tempelman responded to the residence. Upon arrival the patient was found to be unresponsive, not breathing with no pulse. The officers immediately started life-saving efforts including CPR.

Because of the life-saving actions of the officers, the patient was revived and transported to the hospital. Medical staff at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center attributed the patient’s full recovery to the quick response time by the officers.
