An officer with the Plymouth Police was on routine patrol Saturday morning April 2nd at about 3 a.m. when he observed a vehicle travel left-of-center and ramp onto one of the concrete flower bed medians on Michigan Street. 

Officer Arnold observed the Nissan Altima crash with extensive damage to the vehicle, but it proceeded to drive away. Officer Arnold conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Michigan Street north of Plymouth/Goshen Trail.

The driver, 45-year-old Jose Medina-Ortiz of Nappanee was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment with a BAC of .15 or greater.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
