Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction Co will begin a bridge deck overlay project on the U.S. 20/31 bypass between the interchanges with U.S. 20 and State Road 2 on or after Wednesday, March 30.
Lane closures will begin with one lane in each direction during daytime hours to remove white lane lines and place temporary tape. Phase one of the bridge deck overlay project will begin on or after Monday, April 4, with the right driving lanes open for one lane of traffic in both directions. The left passing lanes will be closed for approximately ten weeks.
After phase one is complete around mid-June, the work zone will flip to the right driving lanes in each direction for phase two, and the left passing lanes will be open for one lane of traffic in both directions. Work will be ongoing through late August.
INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
