John Robert Zentz, 83, of Bremen, passed away at 1:24 pm, Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. John was born on December 11, 1938 in Bremen to Robert and Doris (Hershberger) Zentz. On March 3, 1963, he married Jacquelynn Espich. She passed away on January 3, 2008. John is survived by his daughter, Heather Jae Zentz; two siblings, Tom (Liz) Zentz and Bonnie (Wayne) Bollenbacher; his loving companion of 14 years, Evelyn Leiter and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Tony Zentz. John owned and operated Zentz’s Barber Shop in Bremen for 31 years. He was a member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. John also had a very prolific political career. His accomplishments included Bremen Police Commissioner, Marshall county Council Member for 24 years, Marshall County Recorder for 8 years, Marshall County Commissioner for 4 years, Indiana State Police Board for 16 years, Republican Party Chairman for 21 years Charmian of the 2nd Congressional District and Vice Chairman of District 3. John was awarded three Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Doc Bowen, Gov. Bob Orr and Gov. Evan Bayh. He also cast the Electoral College Vote for President Reagan and President Bush. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, February 17, 2022 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 18, 2022 in the funeral home with Elder Arthur Haas officiating.
