U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) released the following statement on the Consumer Price Index, which rose to 7.5 percent in January – the largest increase since 1982.

“Month after month, prices are skyrocketing at the grocery store and the gas pump. Despite his empty promises, President Biden has failed to stop inflation from reaching record-breaking highs. Spurred by the Democrats’ reckless spending, inflation – now at a 40-year peak – continues to spiral out of control. Increasing prices on everyday necessities are hurting every Hoosier family – and they can be deadly for seniors on a fixed income who are forced to choose between food and heat this winter. Combined with persistent supply chain bottlenecks and workforce shortages, surging inflation is a recipe for disaster. We can’t afford the Biden Administration’s radical and out-of-touch agenda.”

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee.
