Monday morning the Marshall County Commissioners approved the request of Highway Superintendent Jason Peters to purchase a new brush chopping tractor with a 60-inch rotating deck and broom attachment for $193,350.

Peters has been looking at purchasing additional equipment once the 3-year lease to purchase for the chipper and distributor is paid off.  The annual payment has been $128,797.77 and the Highway Superintendent would like to continue with that same amount and purchase the brush chopping mower along with a loader.

Peters has a lead on a loader for $260,000 with their trade in and he told the commissioners the highway department could help to offset the cost using the $46,5000 they have made selling off equipment and vehicles they are no longer using.  He said they will be selling 4 pick up trucks this week on the Gov site and will be able to add to those funds.

The Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of the brush chopping tractor with the attachments.
