Tuesday evening, April 27th, at approximately 9:30, Indiana State Police and officers from the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department initiated a traffic stop on a red 2003 Pontiac passenger car in the area of Lincoln Highway and Pioneer Drive.
During the traffic stop, a canine was utilized for a free-air sniff and the canine alerted to the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched and the officers located a small baggie of heroin, a used syringe and a controlled substance pill.
The driver, Blake W. Creighbaum, 33, from Bourbon and the passenger
34-year-old Benjamin T. Risner of Syracuse were taken to the Marshall County Jail and processed for possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.
Both are being held on $1,500 cash bonds.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
