Plymouth girls shut out Concord
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrim tennis team took a shut-out NLC win over Concord 5-0.
Singles player Miranda German and Aubrey Vervynckt played solid tennis at the top of the lineup once again, each winning their matches in straight sets.
Bella Kain battled back from a first-set loss, playing even more determined and with better execution in the second and third sets to finish off a nice three-set win.
The #2 doubles team of Annie Plothow and Cassidy Riddle started off slow, finding themselves in a quick 4-1 first set hole, but they battled back, winning 11 of the next 12 games to clinch the match 6-4, 6-1 and secure the third team point for the Pilgrims.
Taylor Delp and Ellie Jones provided perhaps the biggest win of the night for the Pilgrims. After dropping the second set 6-0, the duo regrouped and continued to battle, winning the third set 7-5 in a high-quality 1D match.
JV singles winners for the Pilgrims tonight were Alexxa Howard, Tallie Hundt, and Emma Rozycki. JV doubles winners were Corine Rhodes-Maddy Thangam, Kiley Pitts-Niki Melendez, and Lena Houin-Alivia Kizer.
For the first time, the Pilgrims host new NLC foe Mishawaka at the Mary Beth Hunter Tennis Complex in Plymouth Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.
