OQC_stop & shop 2021Many people have been asking Jan and Ken Houin if there will be an Operation: Quiet Comfort (OQC) fundraiser this year. For eight years the “Celebrate and Support Our Troops” dinner and auction was the biggest fundraiser of the year for Operation: Quiet Comfort. Last year it was planned for April 23rd and event chairman Jan Houin said, “I don’t think I need to explain what happened.”

Houin said, “Thanks to the support of a generous community and volunteers across the country we were able to keep the care packages going to the deployed troops around the world.  It’s one year later and this should be the 10th annual ‘Celebrate and Support Our Troops’ event.”  Jan continued, “As April drew closer, we realized that once again we would not be able to hold a dinner and auction as in the past.  However, we have a plan B this year! My daughter calls it ‘COVID Creativity’.”

Houin said, “OQC is planning a Celebrate and Support Our Troops Stop and Shop.”   They have a variety of items from cozy quilts, plane rides for the more adventurous, tools, dining certificates, and more.  If anyone has anything to add to the Stop and Shop, Houins will willingly accept any and all donations.

This is how plan B will operate.   They will have all items set up at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Plymouth. Each item will have a “Buy it Now” price so you can make your donation and take it with you. If you do not want to pay the listed price, you may place a sealed bid and at the end of the event, we will open the bids of any items that are left and contact the highest bidder.

The Stop and Shop fundraiser for Operation Quiet Comfort will take place Wednesday, April 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and continue Thursday, April 15th from 9:00 to 6:00 p.m. Stop in any time during those hours.
