mug_joshua smith 3-2021On Saturday, March 6th at approximately 1:15 A.M. Deputy Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was traveling northbound on US 31 in the area of 19th Road when he observed a tan 2000 Toyota Camry traveling northbound with an equipment violation.

The Toyota Camry had been reported stolen the day prior in St. Joseph County.

Deputy Wozniak initiated a traffic stop on US 31 near 11th Road when the vehicle failed to stop for over a mile but eventually was stopped.

The driver identified as 21 year old Joshua L. Smith of South Bend.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was held on the charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana and Operating a Vehicle without ever Receiving a Driver`s License and was held on a $10,005 bond.

Smith was also found to have an active felony warrant through St. Joseph County and will be held at the Marshall County Jail without bond for his warrant.
