Plymouth Public PoolMarshall County Center Township Trustee Amy Knapp appeared before the Plymouth Park Board last week with a unique offer.

Knapp said she spoke with Park Board President Dave Morrow last year about the pool and discussed a plan with her board to contribute some funds to the pool in Centennial Park.  The Center Township Advisory Board approved a $5,000 donation to the pool.

Knapp who uses the pool said she wanted to see some new pool furniture.  She said the plastic chairs are getting “pretty old”.  Maintenance Supervisor Dave Cooper said they are in need a of slide and Knapp was happy to share some of the fund for that accessory too.

PoolThe Center Township Trustee also wants to make sure low-income families who can’t afford swimming lessons be able get their kids in the program at the pool.  She also said possibly a pool pass to allow them the opportunity to experience a day at the city pool. Knapp said, “Swimming is a life lesson and we need to be sure kids are learning how to swim.”  She has between $500 and $1,000 for this program.    Knapp will work with Jenny Sickmiller, Park Office Manager on coming up with a plan of how to make the program work easily for both.

In other business the Park Board approved FREE use of a pavilion for a summer camp for children with autism.
