Jack Jordan state RepIndiana is making great strides in bouncing back from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses found that 55% of Hoosier small businesses considered the possibility of pandemic-related legal action a serious concern.

Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) said, “That’s why I supported Senate Enrolled Act 1 this session to provide temporary immunity to Hoosier businesses, schools, health care entities and others from frivolous lawsuits alleging someone contracted or was exposed to COVID-19 at their facility or business.”

This new law will not cover non-COVID-19-related claims, and defendants who are grossly negligent, commit willful misconduct or intentional misrepresentation are not protected by this legislation.

Jordan said, “It’s critical that Indiana’s businesses keep their doors open and Hoosier jobs are protected. I think this is a necessary step to give some security to our employers and schools, as we all continue to navigate this pandemic.”
