Lady Chargers fall short
Centreville, MI – Tonia Horston-Smith missed a go ahead three-pointer with two second remaining as Glen Oaks outlasted Ancilla 73-70 Friday night in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association opened for both teams.
Alaya Chapman led the Lady Chargers (2-3, 0-1) with 18 points and she grabbed 10 rebounds. Destiny Allen scored 15 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds and Horston-Smith came off the bench to score 15, also.
Ancilla lost two starters to fouls, missed 16 free throws and were outscored by 12 points in a dismal third quarter, but still came within a shot of claiming a MCCAA victory.
The Lady Chargers host Grand Rapids at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will be live streamed, check the Ancilla athletic site for a link.
