Culver LibraryAvon Waters, Artist in Residence at the Historic Vonnegut House, is coming to the Culver-Union Township Public Library (CUTPL).

Waters will hold a program at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 6 at the library; he will explain how five artists are painting major Indiana Waterways to bring attention to conservation of our waterways.

Water’s work, with art work from four other artists, will tour the state’s major museums and culminate in a book, focusing on Indiana waterway conservation efforts. At this program, attendees will see exclusive images prior to the traveling exhibition. Learn how the project came into being, how it has roots in Indiana art history, and how the Indiana Izaak Walton League is helping.

Water’s will also share how to follow the progress of the artists and save time for questions and conversation. “The artworks are a teaser to bring people in to see the beauty of our waterways, but once we’ve got their attention, we want to share what pressures our waterways are facing and the efforts being made to conserve this natural resource,” Avon Water said of the exhibitions and book being produced.

CUTPL is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, until 8 pm on Tuesdays, and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. Visit www.culver.lib.in.us or call 574-842-2941 for details. Join Avon Waters on Saturday, March 6 at 10:30 am.
