Bremen boys tie, girls take a loss
BREMEN — The Lady Lions lost to St. Joseph at the Bremen Aquatics Center, 63-114, while the Lions boys team finished in a rare tie with the Indians, 86-86.
Notable events were the boys 200 Free relay and boys 50 free. The Lion relays took 1st and 2nd place, while senior Isaac Nettrouer and juniors James Wordleman and Tommy Hilgendorf swept the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
The Lions had improvements across the board.
For the girls: Senior Raven White improved her 1-meter Dive personal best by 1 point (168.50). Senior Hanna DePoy improved her 100 fly by 1 second (1:33.78). Freshman Addie Stine smashed her PR in the 100 Free (relay) by 7 seconds (1:24.25). Freshman Atlas McManis (formerly Macenzie) bested her 50 Breast (relay) by 14 seconds (45.72) and her 100 Breast by 2 seconds (1:45.01). Freshman Julie Monesmith improved her 500 Free by 0.6 seconds (7:41.36). Freshman Sarah Stine improved her 50 Free (relay) by 0.5 seconds (30.56). Finally, freshman Sylvia Meyer improved her 50 Free by 0.2 seconds (29.16).
For the boys (upperclassmen): Senior Eli Reed had a phenomenal night, crushing three personal records. He improved his 50 Back (relay) by 3 seconds (38.08), his 100 Back by 4.5 seconds (1:26.51), and his 200 IM by 8 seconds (3:03.85). Senior Isaac Nettrouer bounced back from a debilitating knee injury, taking 1st place in the 50 Free and improving his best time in the 100 Free by 0.3 seconds (57.62). Senior Jacob Fish improved his 50 Free (relay) by 0.2 seconds (26.54) and his 100 Breast by 1 seconds (1:12.97). Junior Al Byrd improved his 50 Back (relay) by 0.6 seconds (31.00) and his 100 fly by 1 second (1:04.60). Junior Tommy Hilgendorf blasted three personal bests. He improved his 50 Free by 0.6 seconds (26.09), his 50 Free (relay) by 1.9 seconds (25.06), and his 100 Free by 0.5 seconds (1:01.50). Junior Lextin Willis improved his 50 Breast (relay) by 0.9 seconds (30.52). Finally, junior Benjamin Hayes swam his first 200 Free (3:10.56) and his first 100 Fly.
For the boys (underclassmen): Sophomore Keegan Miller improved his 50 Free (relay) by 1.5 seconds (27.05). Sophomore Kody Zbieranski improved his 200 IM by 3 seconds (2:59.97). Sophomore Seth Nettrouer had an amazing meet, improving three of his best times. He improved his 50 Free (relay) by 1.2 seconds (28.11), his 50 Fly (relay) by 3 seconds (31.16), and his 200 Free by 2 seconds (2:21.89). Finally, freshman Cameron Butler improved his 100 Free (relay) by 1.5 seconds (1:14.09) and swam his first 100 Breast (1:42.65) of the season.
