school-board-meeting1The Plymouth School board will meet for their first meeting of 2021 on Tuesday, January 5 at 7:00 P.M.

The meeting will mark the first time in 24 years that former board member Todd Samuelson will not be on the board. Samuelson tendered his resignation effective the last meeting of 2020. After the meeting, Samuelson said he has confidence in the experienced board members who he has been working with over the last few years. He added that the Indiana Superintendent’s Association offers training for new board members and also continues training annually.

Samuelson said he first ran for school board because he felt he had skills to contribute the school corporation and to the community.  He works with numerous school corporations throughout the state in the area of school financing.

New member Kurt Christiansen will join returning board members Melissa Christiansen, Larry Pinkerton, and Allison Shook. The board is expected to consider applications  for another new member at the meeting. Candidates for the empty seat due to the resignation of Samuelson to represent West Township were encouraged to apply by January 4th.

The board will hear a school improvement plan for Plymouth High School, updates to the 2020-2021 calendar, and revisions to the conditions of employment and wage increases for classified staff.

Please note that in response to all recommendations of the CDC and the State of Indiana regarding public meetings and gatherings, the Plymouth Community School Corporation Board of Trustees meeting site will be open with limited public space due to social distancing guidelines. The meeting site is fully accessible. Those who would like to attend in person should email Robin Davidson by 10:00 am on January 5th at rdavidson@plymouth.k12.in.us to reserve a seat.
