PLYMOUTH – Plymouth’s JV squad won the First Source Bank Holiday Tournament with a 41-38 win over Jimtown followed by a 38-24 win over Whitko.
Game one saw some early offense for both teams as 12 points were scored in the first two minutes. A Caden Weidner layup off a dribble-drive and a Zane Lark three opened for the Pilgrims with a last-second shot by Lennon Creighbaum put the Pilgrims up 13-12 at the quarter break.
The Plymouth defense took over in the second half holding the Jimmies to three points in the third quarter and forcing multiple turnovers to help survive a fourth-quarter Jimtown run.
Plymouth survived a cold start in the championship game, not hitting a field goal in the first five minutes of the game, but relied on five points from the free-throw line. A last-second three by Trey Hall gave the Pilgrims the lead 12-10 to end the quarter.
Quick baskets out of the locker room by Michael Sheely, Caden Weidner, and Lennon Creighbaum extended the Pilgrim lead to 11.
Plymouth’s defense forced multiple turnovers again to seal the championship win.
Caden Weidner led all scorers with 23.
The two wins put the Pilgrims at 3-3 for the season. Next up for the Pilgrims is a home clash with Michigan City on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
