The Marshall County Commissioners opened bids for the lease of farm-ground at the former Shady Rest property on Lincoln Highway east of Plymouth.
Every three years the county puts the 161 acres of tillable ground out for lease. This year there were three bids for the property. Robin Roberts submitted a bid of $188.50 an acre while KSF farms presented a bid of $203.00 per acre. The winning bid came from Schrock Farms, the current renter with a bid of $257.50 per acre. That was the high bid for 2021, 2022 and 2023. Schrock Farms is the current renter and paid $276.00 an acre for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The cash rent payments are due to the county on May 1st and November 1st of each year.
