County Sheriff Matthew Hassel is reminding residents that the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the DEA National Drug Take Back this Saturday October 24, from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Hassel said, “We have partnered with Michiana Behavioral Health and the 525 Foundation for this event. Residence will be able to drop off their expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs to the Marshall County Sheriff Officer’s in the parking lots of Walgreens Drug Store at 2014 North Michigan Street and Michiana Behavioral Health 1800 North Oak Drive in Plymouth.”
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health in 2009 estimates that there were 7 million non-medical users of prescription drugs in the United States. The survey further indicates that there were more Americans abusing psychotherapeutics than the number of cocaine, heroin and hallucinogen abusers combined. Expired, unused or unwanted medications in our homes are a potential source of supply to the drug abusers making it a risk to public health and safety.
Please bring you unused drugs to the Walgreens Drug Store or Michiana Behavioral Health this Saturday October 24 between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
