fire weather watchThe National Weather Service has issued a “Fire Weather Watch” for northern Indiana counties, including Marshall County.

THREAT: The combination of low relative humidity and breezy conditions will create dangerous fire conditions. Winds will be southerly at around 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40mph possible.

IMPACT: Grass and field fires can spread quickly and cause significant damage to crops and structures.

PREPAREDNESS ACTION: Avoid open burning of fence rows or fields. Farmers are encouraged to keep equipment clean from dust and debris as farm vehicles tend to get hot during harvest season which could accidently start a fire.
