Marshall County Health Department logoIf you have COVID-19 or think you might have been exposed, it is important to stay home and away from other people. Staying away from others helps stop the spread of COVID-19.
Quarantine
Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others.
Isolation
Isolation is used to separate people who are confirmed as COVID-19 positive (including those sick with signs and symptoms And those with no symptoms) from people who are not infected.
How Do I Know If I Need To Be In Quarantine Or Isolation?
If you feel healthy but recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19 – Quarantine:
• Stay home until 14 days after your last exposure.
• Check your temperature twice a day and watch for symptoms of COVID-19.
• If possible, stay away from household members that are at higher risk of vulnerability.
If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, think or know you are positive, or are awaiting test results – Isolation:
• Stay home until after:
o Symptoms have improved, AND o A minimum of 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared, AND o 3 days with no fever without the use of medicine.
If you tested positive with COVID-19 but do not have any signs or symptoms – Isolation:
• Stay home until after:
o 10 days have passed since your positive test. o If possible, stay away from household members that are at higher risk of
vulnerability.
