On Wednesday, May 27th at approximately 1:07 P.M. Deputy Hollopeter with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of 9th Road and Tulip. Upon arriving to the scene the driver of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler identified as Charles Dennis was traveling west bound on 9th Road near the intersection of Tulip Road. For an unknown reason Mr. Dennis traveled off the south side of 9th Road and collided with a tree.
The vehicle then rolled over to its driver’s side and came to rest in the center of the roadway becoming fully engulfed in flames. Mr. Dennis was able to exit the vehicle before it ignited and was pulled to safety with the assistance of two bystanders. Dennis was unable to remember what happened causing him to travel off the roadway and is not believed that alcohol was a factor in this collision.
Dennis was airlifted to Memorial Hospital of South Bend from the Plymouth Airport for a broken leg and other unknown injuries.
