Earlier this month the Marshall County Commissioners entered into a contract with Rowland Design, Inc. of Indianapolis to design the scope of work for a major renovation project on the Courthouse Clock Tower.
Former county commissioner Kurt Garner helped the county receive a $25,000 matching grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology for this project. He previously noted that the county’s Building and Ground Department has seen deterioration of the paint and wood on the clock tower.
The timeline is to have the project drawings completed for bids in mid 2020 and have the restoration completed in 2021 for the 150th celebration of the Courthouse.
Commissioner Stan Klotz moved to approve the $39,110 agreement with the initial payment of 10% or $3,911. Commission Mike Burroughs seconding the motion. There was a unanimous decision to move forward on the project.
