Plymouth Community SchoolsTuesday evening the Plymouth School Board ratified the Master Contract between the school and the teaching staff.

The initial base salary for a beginning teacher was set at $37,000 with additional amounts being added for years of experience.   A teacher with up to 18 plus years of experience would make $56,500.  The superintendent does have the discretion to add additional amounts to meet the academic needs of the corporation such as scarce availability of instructors in a high demand areas, qualified to teach dual credit courses or CTE courses, bilingual language skills that benefit students, and licensed in multiple areas.

The new salary schedule reflects an increase of between $1,400-$2,800 for qualified teachers.

The contract also spells out the grievance procedures, leaves of absence, retirement severance benefits, annuity plan, retirement savings VEBA Plan, insurance, part-time teachers, and sick leave bank.

It was noted in earlier meetings that the insurance plan for staff is increasing by 6 percent.
