NewsAs work on the Plymouth Aquatic Center begins to wind down, one new feature passers-by will notice is the new Community Billboard sponsored by a generous donor. This electronic billboard will be visible from both directions on US 30. The billboard will feature community messages for Marshall County and enhance messaging for the aquatic center.

The billboard will be a large digital display that will be able to rotate several messages with attention grabbing graphics. The digital display will make the messages legible for some distance day or night. The billboard will be providing information to those looking for it 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The messages will also be a way to reach those that don’t normally use other forms of media, perhaps directing them to where more information about an event or the community in general can be found.

This billboard was made possible through a generous donation from Saint Joseph Health System. Chad Towner CEO of SJHS said, “It’s great that Saint Joseph Health System can partner with the Aquatic Center to make this possible. This new center will be an important part of the health and the quality of life for the residents of Marshall County.”

“This Community Billboard will be an effective way for organizations from around the county to be able to get their message out,” said Jerry Chavez, MCEDC President/CEO. “It will be another tool that brings the communities of Marshall County together.” The location is a high traffic area and will be seen by residents and non-residents of Marshall County alike. “Highlighting the variety of events, we have to offer in the communities of Marshall County, will help attract potential new residents and help improve the quality of life here,” said Chavez.

The Aquatic Center has been made possible by a truly unique financing plan that leverages over $3 million of funding through New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) and Regional Cities funding. The development broke ground in July 2018 and is currently wrapping up construction. The finished product will be a 27,000 square foot facility with a 10-lane pool, 2 diving boards, 3 family changing rooms, and seating for over 435 people.
