Rees Theatre benefit concert 2019The REES Theatre Project Committee had hoped to have a stand-up fund raising concert inside the Rees Theatre this year but that can’t happen. Committee member Jack Davis said, “Due to construction and the lack of a sprinkler system we are unable to make that work.” He said, a small committee has been working on a concert in River Park Square to raise funds for two purposes. One is to bring in some additional money for the Rees project and the second to attract a “younger” audience to one of the Rees Theatre activities.

On June 22nd two concerts at River Park Square will be held following the 6th annual Art in the Street Festival presented by Heartland Artist.    These concerts will piggy-back onto those activities and make the whole day an arts happening thing in downtown Plymouth.

The first concert starts at 4:30 and features the band Little Orphan Andy.  Band members includeAndy Adams as lead vocals & guitar, Mark Barton on drums and vocals, Troy Briney who plays bass and helps out on vocals and Jeff Showley who is the lead guitarist and does vocals.  This is a classic rock band whose influences include Journey, AC/DC, Sammy Hagar, Tom Petty, Kiss and Whitesnake.  The band will play from 4:30 to 6:00 in the park. David said, “It will be a great way to wind down the afternoon with fun and dancing.”

The second concert will feature Andy Davis and others from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Andy tours the US and Europe playing many of his own songs. He’s has been to Plymouth several times and always has a great show. The Nashville musician plays alternative and R&B.

Admission to either or both concerts is $10. That means you can attend one or both for one price of $10.00 per adult, other family members are free. Jack Davis said, “We plan to emphasize how the Rees Theatre will be a plus for family life in Plymouth while encouraging other donations during the concert.

Refreshments will be available or attendees are welcome to bring their own drinks and refreshments. This will also be one of Plymouth’s first opportunities to choose a great meal from the brand new Eat At Bob’s Cafeteria food truck. The Listenbergers are waiting to serve you.
