Harrington Noodles buildingWednesday evening the Plymouth Common Council conducted their regular meetings due to the Memorial Day holiday.

They took the first step in the Tax Abatement process for Vigilant Holdings, commonly known as Harrington Noodles.

Crystal Garza told council members the company began in German Township in 1963 and she purchased it in 2011.  She said the company is labor intensive with all the work being done by hand including filling and weighting the packages, taping them closed, boxing them for shipment and loading them on the trucks.

The company has seen substantial growth and Garza said she needs to move the company forward by bringing machinery on board to the food processing company.

Harrington Noodles is currently building a 6,000 square foot building across the street from Pretzels Inc. and Garza is investing $600,000 in capital investment.  Wednesday night she was seeking a Tax Abatement.

harrington NoodlesCurrently the company has 4 employees but Garza anticipates increase that number to 10 to 12 once the production line is up and running in their new Plymouth location.

During the city meeting the City Council approved the first step in the process by declaring the real estate to be within a Economic Revitalization Area.

The City Council unanimously approved the resolution and at next month’s meeting will conduct a public hearing on the request before approving the final step in the Tax Abatement process.
