YellowRiver Logo 2019The 13th annual Yellow River Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday in River Park Square in downtown Plymouth.  Come be a part of the Yellow River Festival celebrating Marshall County history, encompassing the years 1840 through the 1040’s.  Experience period music and dancing, storytelling, and demonstrations….there’s something for everyone.  Families of all ages will enjoy period reenactments, traditional food, rustic crafts and cultural activities with a focus on our wonderful history.

Festivities begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a flag raising ceremony lead by the American Legion and a cannon firing.  Activities include a weapons demonstration at 11 on both Saturday and Sunday and the entertaining USO show at 12:30 both days.

Visitors to the festival can learn more about the Civil War with a skirmish at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 on Sunday.  The afternoon includes a uniform and vintage clothing show at 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

Throughout the weekend will be kids games, music and the potential for military drills throughout the day.

A variety of food options will be available including Chubby Buddy BBQ, Hit-N-Miss Ice Cream, Log Cabin Mini Donuts, Poppin-Off-Popcorn, Wild West Soda and Tom’s Tasty Taters.

Festivities close on Saturday evening at 5 with a single cannon fire and at 3 p.m. on Sunday with the lowering of the flag and a cannon firing.
