County News # 1Jason Peters, head of the Marshall County Highway Department told the County Commissioners the latest cost estimate of damage from the February flood.

Peters said road repairs are estimated at $4.4 million while bridge repairs are $563,000 and culverts are $233,911.  Rental equipment, labor and materials for the flood cost the county $106,237 bringing the preliminary total estimate to $5,394,916.72.

Peters gave a quick update on road closures and said 1C Road was re-opened, Birch Road should have been open by the end of the day on Monday, 7th Road and Maple Road are listed as high water and the culvert replacement project at 7B off Oak Road was started on Monday.

The Marshall County Council will meet in a special meeting on Monday, March 26th at 9 a.m. in the second floor of the County Building.  The meeting is to hear an update on the financial status of the Highway Department as it looks at road and bridge repairs from the recent flooding.
