“It’s important Hoosiers report damages that occurred from the flooding,” Jordan said. “The state and counties will be able to assess the damages and determine if federal assistance can be pursued. I encourage anyone who was affected by the flooding and incurred damages to fill out the online report.”
Homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofit organizations can report the damage that occurred on or after Feb. 15, by visiting the Indiana Department of Homeland Security webpage atwww.in.gov/dhs/.
Due to the historic levels of rainfall, Gov. Eric Holcomb declared a disaster emergency for 22 counties throughout Indiana, including Fulton and Marshall counties. This declaration allows the IDHS to take necessary actions to provide emergency services to areas in the state that are in need.
Jordan said once property owners start to assess damages, it is important to look out for potential scams. To avoid becoming a victim, double check a company’s credentials and history before booking or paying for services. Report any fraud to the Indiana Attorney General’s Office at www.in.gov/attorneygeneral.
