PHS_Orchestra2018The Plymouth High School Orchestra will be performing an Honors Recital on Monday, February 19, at 7:00pm in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church at 400 North Michigan Street.

The recital will feature the students who qualified for the ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble Contest.  To qualify for State, students must play music from the Group I listing and receive a gold medal score from the judges at the district contest.  This year 7 soloists and 4 ensembles qualified for state.  The State Contest is February 24 in Indianapolis.

A special appearance will add to the program.  Violinist Olga Yurkova and her husband, pianist Alexander Kepach will perform as well.  Olga and Alexander are members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.  They both graduated from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and have toured extensively around the world.

The program will take place in the historic sanctuary of First United Methodist Church.  Over 100 years old, its domed sanctuary features lovely acoustics for musical performance.  The building is at the corner of Michigan Street and Adams Street, just one block north of downtown.  Admission to the recital is free.
