PLYMOUTH — The eighth grade Lady Red Storm basketball team opened up against conference rival Lakeview in their first game of a tournament against Lakeview and NorthWood. The first quarter went back and forth as Lakeview and Lincoln battled to a 7-7 tie. Lincoln turned up the defensive pressure and came away with a solid 21-12 victory despite struggling at the charity stripe.  Leading the way for Lincoln was Sara Hunter with 12 points while Clare Sheedy connected for six points. Hannah Friberg and Lauren Rumpler rounded out the scoring. Kami Burkett, Friberg, Hunter and Sheedy did a good job on the boards.
In the championship game, the Lady Red Storm matched up against NorthWood’s undefeated team. Madie Mann got the offense going with seven first quarter points which led the team to a 7-4 lead after one quarter. The Red Storm team handled NorthWood’s full court pressure while Lincoln tightened up its half court defense that changed the flow of the game.  Lincoln came away with an impressive 36-20 victory to capture the Brad Eby basketball classic championship trophy. Mann led all scorers with 14 points, while Hunter hit for nine points and Friberg put in seven. Summer South, Burkett and Sheedy also got into the scoring column.  Sheedy, Hunter and Friberg controlled the glass while Mann, Sheedy, Rose, and South led the defensive charge that broke open the game.
The Lady Red Storm return to action on Monday, Jan. 29 at Rochester. Game time starts approximately at 6 p.m.
