Local News 2017Last week Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul explained a request from INDOT to the Board of Public Works and Safety.

INDOT is planning to reconstruct the Baker Ditch Crossing this summer.  The ditch crossing is east of State Road 17 interchange and west of the interchange on U.S. 31.

Typically INDOT only detours traffic on to other state roads but the location of this would be a much longer detour so INDOT would like to use Hoham Drive and Oak Drive for the detour.  Gaul explained that only 1 lane will be closed at a time so through traffic will remain on U.S. 30 and the detour would only affect those who are already coming into Plymouth.

Gaul noted that the construction would have an impact on the Blueberry Festival traffic.

Before giving their approval the Board of Public Works and Safety asked the city engineer and street superintendent to check traffic flows on the city streets that will be utilized for the detour and it was suggested speaking with security from the Blueberry Festival.
