Knox defeats Lady Lancers
LAKEVILLE – The varsity girl’s basketball team got off to a slow start and could not get untracked in a 50-38 loss to Knox Friday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
Knox hit eight field goals in the firt quarter to open a 18-6 lead.
Shelfie Zeiger and Aryn Eash got in the scoring column for LaVille.
The Hoosier North Athletic Conference leading Redskins continued its pressure defense and allowed the Lancers one shot for many possessions in the second quarter to open a 30-15 lead.
LaVille fought in the second half, outscoring Knox 23-20.
Aryn Eash led LaVille with 16 points. Nina Sajdak had eight, Haley Berger six and Shelfie Zeiger six.
“Another sluggish start tonight,” said LaVille coach Corey Duncan. “We got it within eight then had a couple of unforced turnovers and that’s as close as we could get.
“We missed some lay ups,” continued Duncan. “Credit Knox for being aggressive and hustling to all loose balls. Unfortunately their isn’t any practice time to correct some things before tomorrow. I am confident that we will come out and correct those things tomorrow (senior night against Culver Community).”
LaVille drops to 15-7 overall and will face Culver Community for senior night Saturday at 6 p.m. inside Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
Knox closes the regular season with a 19-4 record overall.
