Indiana State Police Trooper O’Keefe from the Bremen Post investigated a two vehicle crash on US 31, south of 13th Road Wednesday afternoon about 2:30.
The accident occurred when a north bound semi-tanker carrying ethanol stopped at the train tracks, as is required by law.
The SUV following behind rear-ended the tanker’s rear passenger tires. SUV, 66 year old Craig Moore of South Bend may have fallen asleep and ran into the back of the tanker.
Officer O’Keefe noted that the SUV did brake at the last second.
Mr. Moore was treated and released without serious injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor.
