Each year in January artists vote for what the theme will be for their Member theme show in the following December. The Members of Heartland Artists Gallery will be sharing their art with the theme ‘Joy is…’ in a wide variety of media: watercolor, acrylic, photography, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, textile art, pen and ink, etc. The artists will also share why they chose that subject and why it brings joy to them.
Jayne Jacobson, President of Heartland, stated, “Although there are many things that bring me joy, today I am concentrating on the Joy that comes from finding new ways to express my self artistically. I love blending the freedom of acrylic pouring and the structure of Zentangle.”
Kathy Zentz, our Docent Director explained what Joy means to her. “Joy is being able to make art with my hands. It is a creative process, a stress reliever, a stabilizer in life, and it brings a great feeling of fulfillment. It is traveling outside our own door to see God’s creation in other places and being able to create art that others will enjoy. After having taught art for 38 years, I realize it is a lifelong passion I still enjoy. And the passion is still there to teach and share with others!”
The Gallery’s mission is to support area artists; to bring and to teach the arts to our community. Our not-for-profit Gallery gives area artists a venue to show and sell their art. Our art classes fulfill our mission for educating and the classes assist in our financial means to maintain the Gallery. For more information visit www.heartlandartgallery.com or Facebook or call 574.936.9515. The location is 101 N. Michigan St., Downtown Plymouth. Gallery hours are Tues. – Sat. 10-4.
