The Marshall County Commissioners will reduce the speed in two areas of the county.
Ancilla College requested assistance with a crosswalk for the new Autism residential house on the college campus. Determining that a flashing solar light would be too costly, it was suggested to reduce the speed limit in the area.
An amendment to the county’s speed limit ordinance will reduce the speed to 35 miles per hour on Union Road between 9B and 9C Road.
The second speed reduction will be for the Hickory Road Bridge. Due to the design of the bridge being raised for hydraulics the site distance does not meet the INDOT standards for 55 mph. The commissioners agreed to reduce the speed to 45 miles per hour prior to the bridge being open for traffic between 7B and 8th Roads.
